With two Aussies and Matildas competing in the D1 Féminine, Beyond 90 will be keeping readers up to date with how our players, and the teams they’re playing in, are faring.
The Parisian derby between FC Fleury 91 and Paris FC ended with a 1-1 draw. Rosemonde Kouassi scored her second goal of the season, assisted by the team’s maestro, Léa Le Garrec (21′). Paris FC equalised thanks to 19-year-old Adja Binate Soumahoro (73′), who came on as a 60th minute substitute. Fleury lost their two best players as Kouassi (78′, 83′) and Le Garrec (83′, 83′) were both sent off after getting a second yellow card. These two will be suspended for the next game against Paris Saint-Germain.
Girondins de Bordeaux was held by Dijon FCO, the two sides also drawing 1-1. Dijon took the lead courtesy of Léa Declercq (39′) but Bordeaux was able to respond as Maëlle Garbino scored her third goal of the season (69′).
Montpellier HSC earned the points on their away trip to Stade de Reims, winning 3-1. Early on, Reims goalkeeper Emily Alvarado stopped Faustine Robert‘s penalty kick (16′). However, Danish defender Luna Gevitz made the difference twice on free-kicks as she scored a brace (18′, 83′), while Nérilia Mondésir scored again (57′). Reims got on the scoreboard with Julie Pasquereau’s goal, assisted by Rachel Corboz (54’). MHSC has perfectly launched its campaign and currently has the second-best defense in D1 Arkéma.
Paris Saint-Germain won 4-0 against newly-promoted Rodez AF. Our Aussie Lydia Williams earned her first start and clean sheet with PSG. Grace Geyoro opened the scoring at 19′, then Sakina Karchaoui (50′) and Kadidiatou Diani (58′) found the net. Geyoro scored the last one for Paris in stoppage time (90+2′), earning her first brace of the campaign.
For the first time in years, D1 Arkéma saw a Brittany derby and newly-promoted Le Havre AC upset EA Guingamp by winning 1-0. American defender Deja Davis scored a penalty kick on 55 minutes to win the points for Le Havre.
Olympique Lyonnais concluded the round with a difficult victory over ASJ Soyaux (2-1). Soyaux lost their newest defender Leonie Multari to injury (probably for 6 months) after 25 minutes. Lindsey Horan then opened the scoring for OL but they couldn’t break away until the 77th minute, when Delphine Cascarino hit the back of the net. Stéphanie Gbogou scored a late consolation goal for Soyaux.
There was more good news for OL: Ellie Carpenter has started running as she continues her rehab!
