With Aussies Ellie Carpenter, Sarah Hunter and coach Joe Montemurro competing in the Première Ligue, Beyond 90 will be keeping readers up to date with how their teams are faring.
FC Nantes 0-0 Paris FC
FC Nantes earned a point against Paris FC, continuing their good start to the season despite not scoring at home. After 20 minutes of play, the visitors put pressure on Nantes. On a perfectly measured pass from GaĂ«tane Thiney for MaĂ«lle Garbino, Emily Burns came out at the feet of Garbino. The referee decided not to give a penalty even though the goalkeeper seemed to have caught her opponent (29′). During the second half, Nantes played defensively and Paris could not score. Our Aussie Sarah Hunter was not on the teamsheet.
FC Fleury 4-1 Stade de Reims
Despite showing some promise, Reims were short a player after Mana Lamine’s send-off (22′). From a cross by Fasutine Robert, AĂŻssata TraorĂ© scored a header (1-0, 33′), before doubling the lead at the end of the period following poor defense (2-0, 45′). In the second half, Bactheba Louis made an impact and scored a brace (3-0, 68′; 4-0, 76′). The visitors earned a consolation thanks to LĂ©a Bourgain (4-1, 89′) and have still not won a match this season.

Montpellier HSC 7-0 EA Guingamp
Montpellier gave no chance to a Guingamp team weakened by the absences of Kazadi, Daoudi, Renard, and PĂ©niguel. This time, Marion Torrent and her teammates were very efficient. Ifeoma Onumonu started their attacking festival (1-0, 9′). Montpellier created more chances (12′, 21′) before doubling their lead through Nina Ngueleu (2-0, 30′). LĂ©a Khelifi scored with a header (3-0, 38′) and a 20 metre goal (4-0, 41′). Guingamp came back after the break with attacks of their own but Nina Ngueleu, assisted by Ifeoma Onumonu, finished the job (5-0, 63′). Kethna Louis made it 6-0 (75′), while the young Malawian Rose Kadzere scored a header from a corner (7-0, 80′).

In the second half, Dijon secured the victory. Klaudia Jedlinska doubled the advantage (2-0, 52′). Sarah Jankovska and Jedlinska then set up Viktoria Pinther (3-0, 58′), and Jedlinska added a fourth goal (4-0, 61′). Le Havre responded with HĂ©loĂŻse Mansuy (4-1, 87′). Olympique Lyonnais 1-0 Paris Saint-Germain
Lyon won the derby by the smallest margin, but dominated the game in front of 15,386 spectators. However, their efficiency was not at its best. Very quickly, Lyon put PSG under pressure (6′, 7′, 19′, 20′) and Mary Earps was required to make a number of saves. From a Parisian corner-kick, Lyon recovered the ball, with DaniĂ«lle van de Donk and former PSG player Kadidiatou Diani setting up the speedy Tabitha Chawinga for the only goal of the game (1-0, 27′).
Lyon pushed for a second goal, and Mary Earps made a superb save from Wendie Renard’s header (45+3′). OL’s superiority was obvious but they could not score (56′, 58′). PSG substitute Marie-Antoinette Katoto saved her team by stopping two attempts from Damaris Egurrola on the line (64′, 73′). Mary Earps then prevented Sofie Svava from scoring an Olimpico (73′). Ellie Carpenter and Olympique Lyonnais secured three points and moved back to the top of the table.
Lyon coach Joe Montemurro spoke post-game: “It was important to get this result. It’s a good result in terms of football, but maybe not in terms of finishing. It was a good day for us. I think PSG would have been happy to get a draw today since they would have remained at the top of the championship. They came to prevent us from playing but we found different solutions. We created many opportunities, but we were unable to make them come true.
“Chawinga had a good match. She finished the action very well with her goal. We know that in these situations, she had other opportunities to make the break. Let’s get a lot of chances, and that’s positive. It’s important to be a leader. We always want to be first. It’s essential to finish at the top of the championship at the end of the season. It was a good week with players returning from selection, we knew how to do the best in this situation.”
