With two Aussies and Matildas competing in the D1 Féminine, Beyond 90 will be keeping readers up to date with how our players, and the teams they’re playing in, are faring.
Mary Fowler‘s Montpellier opened the week with a goalless draw against Paris FC. The Aussie came in at the 66th minute as the coach made attacking changes and almost scored in the 89th minute, but Chiamaka Nnadozie stopped the ball just before the goal line.
Paris Saint-Germain won 3-0 at FF Issy thanks to Lea Khelifi‘s brace (53′, 80’) and Kadidiatou Diani‘s late goal (90+2’). Khelifi has scored four goals in her last two games as a starter.
Stade de Reims took three important points against ASJ Soyaux. Despite the visitors opening the scoring thanks to Laura Bourgouin (58′), Reims reacted two minutes later with Rachel Corboz, before scoring two at the end of the game with Kessya Bussy (87′) and Naomie Feller (90′).
Bordeaux vs Dijon and Guingamp vs Saint-Etienne both ended in 1-1 draws. Bordeaux was unable to make the difference and lost two points again. While Mélissa Gomes scored in the 14th minute, Desire Oparanozie equalized for Dijon (44′) and Bordeaux couldn’t regain the lead. In their last six games, Bordeaux have only taken seven points out of a possible 18 and are standing at 6th place in the championship. The other game saw Guingamp dominating thanks to Sarah Cambot‘s goal (30’), and with numerical superiority from the 44th minute after Elise Bonet‘s two yellow cards. However Saint-Etienne, reduced to ten players, equalised thanks to Laury Jesus‘s 80th minute strike to earn an important point in their relegation battle.
Finally, Olympique Lyonnais won 4-0 against FC Fleury 91 in Amandine Henry‘s 200th game with the club. Fleury and Nikola Karczewska could have scored but Kadeisha Buchanan was there to stop the ball (15′). Ada Hegerberg gave the lead to Lyon on 24 minutes, assisted by Janice Cayman. Ellie Carpenter then had her moment when she set up Cayman to score with a volley (30′). Griedge Mbock, who was playing in midfield, headed in from a Hegerberg header to make it 3-0 in the 40th minute. Carpenter was subbed off at halftime and Henry scored the fourth goal on 52 minutes after receiving a nice pass from Perle Morroni.
