With two Aussies and Matildas competing in the D1 Féminine, Beyond 90 will be keeping readers up to date with how our players, and the teams they’re playing in, are faring.

The D1 Arkéma made its return this last week but none of our Aussies played. Olympique Lyonnais and Ellie Carpenter‘s home game against Soyaux has been postponed due to COVID cases among the visitors, while Mary Fowler was away with the Matildas and missed Montpellier’s 3-0 win over AS Saint-Etienne.

Earlier in the season, La Paillade defeated AS Saint-Etienne 7-2 in the French Cup. Montpellier started their year perfectly with a clean sheet, three goals and efficiency in their plays. Johanna Elsig opened the score with a header (13′), then Faustine Robert scored a brace (15′, 49′).

Paris FC won the derby against FF Issy 1-0 thanks to Mathilde Bourdieu‘s clinical finish (15’). Issy goalkeeper Cosette Morché delivered a great performance but her side was unable to find an equaliser.

FC Fleury took three important points at Stade de Reims with a 1-0 away win. This was a game between two in-form teams who kept all promises. Fleury could have opened the scoring on 61 minutes, but Emily Alvarado stopped Lea Le Garrec‘s penalty kick. In this thriller, Jeanette Yango (served by Sarah Kassi who came on in the 79th minute) scored the winning goal with four minutes remaining in normal time. Her 20 metre lob keeps Fleury in fourth place.

Like Olympique Lyonnais vs. Soyaux, Paris Saint-Germain vs. Dijon and EA Guingamp vs. Girondins de Bordeaux were also postponed. Soyaux, Dijon and Guingamp all have more than four COVID cases over the last seven days – the minimum to request a postponement.
