With two Aussies and Matildas competing in the D1 Féminine, Beyond 90 will be keeping readers up to date with how our players, and the teams they’re playing in, are faring.

The top three (Olympique Lyonnais, Paris Saint-Germain, Paris FC) earned away wins while Montpellier HSC and Girondins de Bordeaux relaunched themselves perfectly. At the bottom, FF Issy earned three crucial points against a relegation rival.

Paris FC won 5-2 at EA Guingamp after a great first half. Daphné Corboz opened the scoring on 12 minutes, then Louna Ribadeira doubled their lead three minutes later. Clara Matéo made it three in the 29th minute before 20 year old Celina Ould Hocine scored her first senior goal for the club, assisted by her idol Gaëtane Thiney. Guingamp reduced the deficit thanks to a 42nd minute penalty from Sally Julini (on loan from OL) after Théa Greboval‘s foul in the box. Mathilde Bourdieu scored the fifth one on 69 minutes before Guingamp and Louise Fleury answered ten minutes later. Paris FC’s lethal trio of Thiney, Corboz and Matéo was involved in every goal: two assists for Thiney, plus a goal and an assist each for Corboz and Matéo.

Bordeaux scored three and kept a clean sheet against AS Saint-Etienne. The hosts opened the scoring after Tainara‘s great pass to Claire Lavogez, who perfectly chest-controlled the ball before beating the goalkeeper (33′). Melissa Herrera scored six minutes after entering the field (52′) and assisted Maelle Garbino‘s goal (90+1’). It is the first time this season that Bordeaux has won two league games in a row.

FF Issy won a crucial game against ASJ Soyaux (5-1) in their battle to avoid relegation. Issy did not give the visitors any chance as they scored four times in the first half. It only took seven minutes for Allie Thornton to open the lead, then Issy put the pressure on and Batcheba Louis scored a brace (17′, 40′). Soyaux cracked before halftime as Roselord Borgella scored during stoppage time. Océane Daniel made it 5-0 in the 56th minute from a Morgane Martins corner kick before Soyaux scored a consolation goal thanks to Eden Avital, who scored her first goal in the D1 Arkema. Issy is now only three points away from Soyaux and has a better goal difference than their rivals, which could possibly decide both teams’ futures in the top division.

Montpellier HSC won 2-0 in a difficult game. Dijon decided to play full defense against their former coach, while Montpellier tried to stretch their opponents, creating chances for Mary Fowler and others. Just before half-time, Faustine Robert scored for MHSC, assisted by the Australian – her second assist of the season. Fowler was probably the Player of the Match as she won a penalty kick (off goalkeeper Solène Durand) that Lena Petermann converted perfectly. Montpellier didn’t concede a goal and Fowler came off in the 79th minute.

Olympique Lyonnais won by two goals at Reims. Ellie Carpenter played the entire game, but Lyon couldn’t pass Reims’ defensive block until the 61st minute, thanks to Melvine Malard. Wendie Renard scored the second goal on 90+2′ minutes from Selma Bacha‘s corner-kick. Bacha, still only 21, has now played 100 games for Lyon.

Sonia Bompastor had some words after the game: “It was a complicated match in the content, unsatisfying. There was a good reaction in the second half. But I expect more. We lacked determination in the first half. We have to come back with better intentions.”

The last game of this round was a Parisian derby between the 2nd and 4th placed teams of the D1 Arkema, Paris Saint-Germain and FC Fleury 91. PSG took the lead on eight minutes thanks to their captain Grace Geyoro, and Paulina Dudek doubled PSG’s lead from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute. On 62 minutes, Kadidiatou Diani had her penalty kick saved by Emmeline Mainguy but scored from the rebound, and Ramona Bachmann completed a 4-0 victory for PSG in the 89th minute.
