With two Aussies and Matildas competing in the D1 Féminine, Beyond 90 will be keeping readers up to date with how our players, and the teams they’re playing in, are faring.
Montpellier HSC, who were in good form, had a setback and lost 1-2 against Stade de Reims. Maëlle Lakrar opened the scoring just before halftime but Paillade was unable to complete the job. In an attempt to secure the game, our Aussie and goal.com NXGN 2022 wonderkid Mary Fowler came in at 65 minutes but it was Stade de Reims who took the opportunity to equalise with Lou Ann Joly (74′). Fowler had a few shots but MHSC couldn’t score, while Reims did with Kethna Louis on 81 minutes. Once more, game over for Montpellier.
Girondins de Bordeaux won 3-0 against GPSO Issy thanks to – once again – Katja Snoeijs. The Dutch forward opened the scoring on 10 minutes before assisting Claire Lavogez to make it two in the 59th minute. Her high pressing set up Bordeaux’s third goal, which was scored by Eve Périsset. With a goal and two assists in this round, Snoeijs has now been involved in 17 of her team’s 34 goals.
FC Fleury did the minimum against ASJ Soyaux in tough and very windy conditions. Their most dangerous occasions came from set plays, including Dominika Grabowska‘s game-winning penalty (55’). FCF remains 3rd behind OL and PSG.
Paris Saint-Germain was facing rivals Paris FC in a derby thet ended up goalless – a bad result for PSG, who now stand five points behind OL. Czech goalkeeper Barbora Votíková conceded a penalty in the second minute before stopping it. Paris Saint-Germain then had the most chances but never really worried their opponents. Sakina Karchaoui declared to Canal + Sport: “It is a bad operation. We had to win and we still lose points along the way. We let Lyon take points at the top of the championship. We are not happy at all, we will have to analyse that. The title? It’s not over, there are still matches. Anyone can make a misstep so we’re going to build on that.”
Olympique Lyonnais won 2-0 against EA Guingamp. OL took an early lead thanks to Catarina Macario‘s volley (10’), and Macario is becoming more and more important to OL’s attacking play. Unfortunately, Melvine Malard was then injured and had to be replaced by Selma Bacha (27′). Ten minutes later, Ada Hegerberg doubled Lyon’s lead. The second half saw Guingamp trying to reduce the deficit but Damaris Egurrolla played a solid game to help OL earn three points and a clean sheet. Ellie Carpenter was suspended due to accumulating three yellow cards in less than ten matches.
