With two Aussies and Matildas competing in the D1 Féminine, Beyond 90 will be keeping readers up to date with how our players, and the teams they’re playing in, are faring.
After Round 20, we already know that AS Saint-Etienne has been relegated, while EA Guingamp has secured their place in the 2022-23 D1 Arkema season. ASJ Soyaux must avoid defeat next weekend to have a realistic chance of avoiding relegation. Soyaux are battling with Issy and Dijon to stay in D1 Arkema.
AS Saint-Etienne were officially relegated after a heartbreaking defeat, a 1-0 loss against Stade de Reims – with Melchie Dumornay scoring the only goal in the 92nd minute.
EA Guingamp took their chance perfectly by winning 4-0 at home against Dijon FCO. The hosts scored thanks to Aissata Traore (48′), Sarah Cambot (68′, 79′) and Alison Peninguel (84′).
FC Fleury 91 won 5-0 away to FF Issy in a one-sided game. The visitors didn’t find the net until Julie Debever unlocked the situation at a corner-kick (55′), before Rosemonde Kouassi (68′), Léa Le Garrec (89′) and 19 year old Kenza Chapelle (85′, 90+1) scored.
Montpellier HSC won 3-0 at ASJ Soyaux. Faustine Robert scored a brace (12′ 86′), before our super-sub Mary Fowler, who came in at the 85th minute, made it three (90+1′). MHSC’s captain and French international Marion Torrent played her 300th game for the club.
Paris Saint-Germain gave no opportunities to Bordeaux as they won 5-1 away. Kadidiatou Diani made it 1-0 after Bordeaux’s defence got muddled at a corner kick (14′). Heading back from the locker room for the second half, the Parisians upped the tempo. Diani scored after a second ball (51′), then Marie-Antoinette Katoto netted with a header from Sarah Däbritz‘s corner-kick (66’). Bordeaux answered ten minutes later thanks to Melissa Gomes, but Diani struck again on 87 minutes and Jordyn Huitema scored another for PSG in the 94th minute.
The main game of the round saw Olympique Lyonnais win 2-0 against Paris FC. Paris tried to be creative and surprised Lyon but Ada Hegerberg opened the scoring just before halftime. Delphine Cascarino doubled OL’s lead on 61 minutes after good play with Catarina Macario. Our Aussie Ellie Carpenter played the entire game and has the fifth highest minutes played in Lyon’s squad.
