With two Aussies and Matildas competing in the D1 Féminine, Beyond 90 will be keeping readers up to date with how our players, and the teams they’re playing in, are faring.

It was a great week for our Aussies! Ellie Carpenter‘s OL claimed a 15th French championship title after their 1-0 win at Paris Saint-Germain, and Mary Fowler scored her fifth goal of the season.

Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyonnais played a championship game where Lyon scored early thanks to Catarina Macario, assisted by Selma Bacha (3′). PSG were surprised and not confident in defense as they were playing a 3-5-2. PSG tried to answer but couldn’t threaten, while OL failed to score more despite their counter-attacking. Carpenter had her ACL surgery last week.

The relegation battle will go to the final round, where one of ASJ Soyaux, FF Issy and Dijon FCO will drop to the second tier. The six final round games will be played on Wednesday June 1st at 8.45 pm local time.

ASJ Soyaux won perhaps the most important game of the season, 2-0 against EA Guingamp, with goals from Camille Collin (66′) and Fadimatou Aretouyap (74′). The Cameroonian Aretouyap, only 19 years old, played her second game of the season and scored seven minutes after entering the field.

Dijon FCO and Stade de Reims drew 2-2. Lea Declercq scored a brace for Dijon (28′, 49′) but the Haïtian duo of Kethna Louis (44′) and Melchie Dumornay (72′) earned a point for Reims.

FF Issy couldn’t resist Montpellier HSC’s attacking festival. Montpellier’s Faustine Robert set up three goals, for Nérilia Mondésir (7′, 63′) and Cyrielle Blanc (12′). Blanc is an U19 French international and scored her first goal in the D1 Arkéma. Adélie Fourré reduced the gap for Issy after great team pressing (27′) but MHSC’s Lena Petermann answered ten minutes later. Batcheba Louis scored another for Issy (66′), however the last word came from Mary Fowler, who entered the game as a substitute and scored with a right footed strike in stoppage time (90+1′).

FC Fleury won 4-2 against AS Saint-Etienne after ASSE led 2-0 thanks to Juliette Vidal (9′) and Kelly Gago (23′). The second half was nightmarish for Saint-Etienne: Nicola Karczewska came in at halftime for Fleury and scored a hat-trick (47′ pk, 60′, 86′) – her 8th, 9th and 10th goals of the season put her 9th on the top scorers list. Karczewska’s teammate Julie Piga made it four on 89 minutes.

Girondins de Bordeaux played a heartbreaking last home game of the season, losing 4-1 against Paris FC. Bordeaux opened the scoring through Melissa Hererra (20′) after great work from Katja Snoeijs. Then, Ella Palis fouled Ouleymata Sarr and Paris FC equalised with Gaëtane Thiney‘s penalty kick, the first of two goals she would score before halftime (35′, 43’). Sarr broke Bordeaux’s hopes in first half stoppage time with another goal before scoring her second of the game in the 82nd minute. This could be the last Bordeaux home game for many players – Claire Lavogez, Herrera, Charlotte Bilbault, Inès Jaurena and others might leave the club at the end of the season.
