With two Aussies and Matildas competing in the D1 Féminine, Beyond 90 will be keeping readers up to date with how our players, and the teams they’re playing in, are faring.
The season’s last round saw relegation for FF Issy, while Dijon FCO and ASJ Soyaux saved their D1 Arkema spot. Le Havre AC and Rodez AF will play in D1 next season.
Issy had to win against Olympique Lyonnais to stay in D1 Arkema. Unfortunately, the challenge was impossible. Eugénie Le Sommer opened the scoring on 30 minutes after a one-two pass with youngster Inès Benyahia. Melvine Malard made it two (52′) and Danielle van de Donk scored another one after an interception (80′). It was fitting that Wendie Renard scored OL’s last goal of the season in stoppage time with a header (90+1′). At the end of the season, our Aussie Ellie Carpenter finished the season with six assists (8th in the league).

Dijon FCO lost 2-0 away to Paris FC. Mathilde Bourdieu (15′) and Ouleymata Sarr (49′) made the difference. Paris FC concluded its season on a good note and Sarr was rewarded for her performances with a call-up to France’s European Championship squad.
Soyaux won a bottom-of-the-table battle, 3-0 away at AS Saint-Etienne. Eden Avital scored a brace (41′, 63′) and Marie-Charlotte Léger benefited from some defensive mistakes to add another one (85′).
Stade de Reims created a surprise by winning 1-0 against Paris Saint-Germain. French internationals Grace Geyoro, Kadidiatou Diani and Marie-Antoinette Katoto didn’t play. Reims midfielder Melchie Dumornay got the better of Elisa De Almeida for the only goal of the game, scoring after a throw-in (45+2′).
FC Fleury 91 won 3-0 away to EA Guingamp. Arkema’s Most Promising Player (“Meilleur Espoir”) of the year, Rosemonde Kouassi, scored a brace with a great first goal (25′, 83′) and Dominika Grabowska added a third after a good counter-attack with Lea Le Garrec (90+2′).
Finally, Girondins de Bordeaux won 1-0 against Montpellier HSC, thanks to Mickaëlla Cardia (90+3′), who scored the 300th goal in the history of the Girondins de Bordeaux women’s team. Mary Fowler entered the field on 75 minutes and ended her season with five goals to be the 20th highest scorer in the league.
