With two Aussies and Matildas competing in the D1 Féminine, Beyond 90 will be keeping readers up to date with how our players, and the teams they’re playing in, are faring.

4-0 was the score to remember for this round!

Olympique Lyonnais opened the weekend with a 4-0 win at Dijon which signalled Griedge Mbock‘s comeback after a year away from the pitch due to injury. Aussie Ellie Carpenter played the entire game and delivered her first decisive pass of the season to Melvine Malard (3’). Then Kadeisha Buchanan (47′), Emelyne Laurent (73′) and Danielle Van de Donk (86′) did the job after some missed opportunities in the first half.

Coach Sonia Bompastor had this to say: “I am happy with this victory after the international break. We were good in the game. We still have to improve in the finish. We narrowly missed at times. We have to work.”

Titleholders Paris Saint-Germain continue their 33-game unbeaten streak in D1 Arkéma, winning the derby 4-0 against Paris FC thanks to a brace from Marie-Antoinette Katoto, Kadidiatou Diani and once again a Sara Däbritz penalty kick. Lyon and PSG stand on top with 12 points and no goals allowed.

However, the highlight of the round was newly-promoted AS Saint-Etienne’s 4-0 win at Dijon FCO, 4 years after their last win in the first division. Their newest player, Nigerian Esther Okoronkwo scored twice, while Elise Bonet and one of the club’s legends Audrey Chaumette also scored.

Other games saw Girondins de Bordeaux winning 1-0 at GPSO Issy thanks to Melissa Gomes and FC Fleury winning 1-0 against ASJ Soyaux thanks to Nikola Karczewska. Finally, Montpellier HSC won 4-1 at Stade de Reims thanks to braces from Sarah Puntigam and Lena Petermann. Mary Fowler was on the bench and didn’t play.
