With two Aussies and Matildas competing in the D1 Féminine, Beyond 90 will be keeping readers up to date with how our players, and the teams they’re playing in, are faring.
Ellie Carpenter (Olympique Lyonnais) and Mary Fowler (Montpellier HSC) returned from national team duties but both were unused substitutes on the weekend.
Olympique Lyonnais won 6-1 away to ASJ Soyaux in a game where we saw the best of Catarina Macario‘s offensive skills with a rocket in the fifth minute. Soyaux responded from the kick-off and Corina Luijks scored, thanks to rapid play from Marie-Charlotte Léger. Then for Lyon, Signe Bruun netted twice (13’, 39’) while Janice Cayman (28’), Melvine Malard (76’) and Griedge Mbock (80’) also scored. Notably, this game was Delphine Cascarino‘s 100th appearance in the league, and Amandine Henry gave us an attacking masterclass with three assists on the day. Bruun is now Lyon’s top scorer and the second highest scorer in the championship with five goals.

In probably the craziest game of the season, Montpellier won 2-1 away to AS Saint-Etienne after an incredible finish. AS Saint-Etienne took an early lead thanks to Esther Okoronkwo (5′) and resisted MHSC attacks. The second half was open with opportunities for both teams, then the game took a turn when the referee gave red cards to Saint-Etienne’s Kelly Gago (second yellow, 60′) and Montpellier’s Nérilia Mondésir (85′). At ten against ten with five minutes to play, Montpellier scored two goals thanks to the lethal duo of Sarah Puntigam and Lena Petermann. Petermann assisted Puntigam for the equaliser (90′), then Puntigam returned the favour to Petermann in the fourth minute of stoppage time to snatch victory.
Paris Saint-Germain continued their perfect journey (seven wins and seven clean sheets to start the campaign) with a 3-0 victory away to Dijon FCO. Kadidiatou Diani (24’) and Marie-Antoinette Katoto (60’) scored one each, both assisted by Sandy Baltimore, while an own goal (58’) completed the scoresheet. PSG could have ended up with more goals but Sara Däbritz missed a penalty kick. With eight goals in seven games, Katoto leads the race for the golden boot.
Girondins de Bordeaux rebounded from two consecutive defeats with a 3-0 home victory against EA Guingamp. Maëlle Garbino opened the score on 13 minutes and Claire Lavogez doubled the lead (39′) before Katja Snoejs made her mark (68′) with her fourth of the season.
Paris FC got the better of FF Issy with a 5-0 away win, allowing no chance for their opponents. Julie Soyer (21’), Mathilde Bourdieu (32’), Ouleymata Sarr (37’), Clara Matéo (90’) and Oriane Jean-François (90+2’) all found the net for Paris.
FC Fleury 91 earned three important points against Stade de Reims thanks to Léa Le Garrec, who is having her best season so far in the French championship. The playmaker scored a great goal, similar to the one Macario scored for Lyon.
