With two Aussies and Matildas competing in the D1 Féminine, Beyond 90 will be keeping readers up to date with how our players, and the teams they’re playing in, are faring.

Mary Fowler was the supersub for Montpellier, scoring a brace within four minutes of entering the game! MHSC won 3-0 against FF Issy. Once again, Montpellier had some difficulties creating opportunities and the answer came from a corner kick, with youngster Maëlys Mpome scoring her first-ever goal in the D1 Arkema (13′). Then la Paillade let their opponents have some chances, but they were defended by goalkeeper Lisa Schmitz. Fowler was subbed in at the 60th minute, scoring a great strike on 62 minutes and then netting with a volley on 64 minutes. A few days after the attack on Kheira Hamraoui, PSG was unable to resist Lyon, who won 6-1. The hosts applied the pressure from the beginning and Catarina Macario won a penalty, which she converted to open the score on 15 minutes. Three minutes later, Daniëlle van de Donk doubled the lead after a great run from Selma Bacha. PSG’s nightmare continued as Ashley Lawrence was sent off after a foul on Melvine Malard.

While PSG kept the deficit to 2-0 at halftime despite playing with 10 against 11, the next 45 minutes would be dramatic. Malard scored a header from Bacha’s corner kick in the 53rd minute – her 45th goal for OL – and Damaris Egurrola scofred after being set up by Macario (59′). PSG did find the net on 75 minutes, thanks to an Amanda Ilestedt header which was assisted by Sara Däbritz.

While it was a nightmare for PSG, Ada Hegerberg was living the dream. The Norwegian scored a brace, her first goals since December 8, 2019. Hegerberg’s goals were assisted by Ellie Carpenter (79’) and Perle Morroni (82’), and the Norwegian star was overwhelmed by emotion at the end of what was a historic game.

It was the first time in 13 years that PSG had allowed six goals in a single game, and their worst ever defeat against OL. Lyon is now clear at the top of the D1 Arkema.
