With Aussies Ellie Carpenter, Clare Hunt and Sarah Hunter competing in D1 Féminine, Beyond 90 will be keeping readers up to date with how their teams are faring.

For the opening game of this round, Paris FC got the better of FC Fleury 91 at home (3-1). What could have been a tight match turned early in PFC’s favour – they led 2-0 after 20 minutes thanks to Mathilde Bourdieu (14′) and Gaëtane Thiney (18′). FC Fleury responded with a goal from the Canadian Tianna Harris at 26′, however despite a quadruple substitution, the visitors couldn’t equalise. Clara Matéo’s goal on 74′ sealed the victory and Paris FC leads the championship on goal difference. Sarah Hunter was not on the Paris FC teamsheet.

Then we had a Saturday full of draws, starting with the scoreless game between EA Guingamp and Stade de Reims.

Meanwhile, Girondins de Bordeaux and Le Havre drew 1-1. Experienced campaigner Andrea Lardez converted a penalty kick at 10′ to put Bordeaux in front, before Le Havre equalised thanks to another D1/D2 experienced player in Laurie Cance (59′).

AS Saint-Etienne drew 1-1 with Montpellier HSC! Newly-promoted Saint-Etienne opened the scoring thanks to Nigerian international Regina Otu’s banger at 14′. However, Les Vertes could have regrets after Maylis Mpome’s scored for Montpellier at 69′. Montpellier couldn’t score another goal and dropped precious points.

Five hundred and thirty-five spectators were fortunate enoguh to see a six goal game between Dijon FC and Lille OSC (3-3). Dijon took the lead at 31′ thanks to Latifah Abdu’s strike. Lille OSC answered just past the hour mark with Brazilian Marjorie Castro Boilesen (64′), and even took the lead at 75′ thanks to Maïte Boucly. The game was a rollercoaster as Dijon’s Chinese international Wu Chengshu (formerly of Canberra United) scored a brace to put them 3-2 up (86′, 90+2′). However, just as Dijon looked like they would bag three points,late drama saw Julie Machart-Rabanne equalize at 90+6′ from the penalty spot.

It was definitely a D1 Féminine round to remember as Olympique Lyonnais and Paris Saint-Germain faced each other to put the icing on the cake. Ellie Carpenter’s OL won 1-0 with clinical efficiency as PSG was dominating possession – Eugénie Le Sommer scored a sensational goal at 20′. The game also featured amazing goalkeeping performances from both OL’s Cristiane Endler and PSG’s Constance Picaud. Carpenter played the entire game, but Clare Hunt wasn’t on the PSG teamsheet.
