With Aussies Ellie Carpenter, Sarah Hunter and coach Joe Montemurro competing in the Première Ligue, Beyond 90 will be keeping readers up to date with how their teams are faring.

Olympique Lyonnais 6–2 FC Fleury

FC Fleury surprised Olympique Lyonnais right away by scoring in the 21st second against a three-women defence. Faustine Robert set up Ewelina Kamczyk to open the score (1-0, 1′). But OL’s attacking side, without Hegerberg, Renard, and Bacha, made the difference.
Joe Montemurro’s team equalised as Melchie Dumornay received a cross from Sofie Svava (1-1, 22′) and then took the lead ten minutes later on a penalty converted by Lindsey Horan (1-2, 32′). Dumornay unleashed a shot outside the area to score a brace (1-3, 43′).
With Lyon showing some defensive shortcomings, Fleury started the second half like the first with Kamczyk scoring again after 50 seconds (2-3, 46′). However, Dzsenifer Marozsán played a part in Horan‘s (2-4, 57’) and Vanessa Gilles‘s (2-5, 75′) goals. Kadidiatou Diani scored a sixth goal for Lyon (2-6, 80’). Our Aussie Ellie Carpenter played the entire game as a central-right defender.
For its first game, Joe Montemurro said “It was a spectacular match, exciting for the spectators. The start was a bit strange but in the end, we did what we had to do. Even if we were behind very quickly, we didn’t panic. We played our game. This style of play gives a lot of rewards but is also risky. Fleury bothered us several times and made it difficult for us.”

Le Havre AC 0-1 FC Nantes

FC Nantes began its Première Ligue journey perfectly with a valuable success against Le Havre AC. Manon Uffren scored the only goal, a lobbed shot from 35 metres that surprised everyone (0-1, 8′). Despite greater pressure from Le Havre, the Canaries managed to keep a clean sheet.

RC Strasbourg 1– 1 Dijon FCO

Strasbourg started its Première Ligue’s journey at La Meinau, the men’s team’s stadium, in front of 1,340 supporters (capacity 26,109). Laurine Hannequin won her one-on-one to give the lead to Strasbourg (1-0, 12′). Chengshu Wu equalized for Dijon from close range (1-1, 59′). Strasbourg’s Hannequin came close to surprising Dijon with an audacious attempt in the dying stages (90+2′).

Stade de Reims 1-2 AS Saint-Etienne

ASSE won at Stade de Reims with two goals in two minutes, thanks to Amandine Pierre-Louis scoring (0-1, 20′) and then assisting Lisa Martinez (0-2, 22′). Jade Nassi reduced the deficit for Reims (1-2, 45′), but it was not enough for Reims to take any points from the game.

Montpellier HSC 1-3 Paris Saint-Germain

From the beginning of the game, PSG attacked the opposing goal before scoring through Marie-Antoinette Katoto (0-1, 20′). Grace Geyoro doubled their advantage (0-2, 43′). Montpellier came back for the second half with intent, as Mary Earps deflected Kethna Louis’ header onto the crossbar (50′) and won a duel against Nina Ngueleu (68′). PSG’s Olympic Champion Korbin Albert saw the goalkeeper Justine Lerond off her line and scored from an off-center shot (0-3, 86′). Montpellier scored a consolation thanks to Ella Palis (1-3, 90+3′).
