We’re excited to once again bring you details of Aussies playing in Nordic football leagues (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland). Read on to see how they fared over the last week in our Nordic Wrap!

In the penultimate round of the 2024 Damallsvenskan – Round 25 – the main interest for the Aussies in the competition rests with those involved in avoiding the possibility of relegation.

AIK continued their remarkable recent record of three wins and two draws from their last five games after their convincing 4-0 win over cellar dwellers Trelleborg. Is it a coincidence that this run is taking place after Jada Whyman‘s late-season signing? We think not. Whyman played a full game in what was AIK’s last home game of the season.

AIK still occupies third-last – the promotion-relegation playoff spot – coming into the final round. Linköping FC is now within reach of AIK, but AIK will need to overcome fifth-placed Vesna Milivojević‘s IFK Norrköping in the final round to bring Linköping into the equation.

Linköping FC was beaten 4-0 away from home by ladder leaders FC Rosengård. Does Linköping’s slide down the ladder have anything to do with regularly leaving both Polly Doran and Angie Beard on the bench of late? Who can say?

Celebrating a birthday this week, Doran entered the game in the 61st minute, with Beard following suit in the 72nd minute.

Linköping’s season finishes with a home game against Vittsjö, a team three ladder positions above them. A point will guarantee them a place in next season’s competition. A loss and an AIK win will see Linköping participating in promotion/relegation playoffs.

Fourth-placed Kristianstads DFF defeated Djurgårdens IF 3-1 at home, with Remy Siemsen and Clare Polkinghorne playing full minutes for the home side. Amy Sayer‘s ACL rehab from her Round 3 injury looks to be progressing nicely if these pictures are any indication!

IFK Norrköping fell 1-0 away to sixth-placed Piteå IF, with Vesna Milivojević remaining on the bench. Win or lose in the final round against Vittsjö, Norrköping is guaranteed to finish fifth.

Milivojević announced during the week that she has re-signed with Norrköping in 2025!

Finally, second-placed BK Häcken had a strong 4-0 home win over second-from-bottom Örebro. Aivi Luik played 74 minutes in her first game for Häcken in over two months due to a disputed suspension imposed by the Italian football federation.

Ally Green played a full game in AGF‘s vital 1-0 home win over fourth-placed HB Køge, a result that for now keeps the relegation wolves away from AGF’s door.

Ava Collins
played 58 minutes of Kolding‘s 2-2 home draw with Odense. The welcome point nonetheless still leaves Kolding planted at the foot of the table by two points.
