Hásteinsvöllur in Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland, home ground of IBV

Aussies are currently playing in two Nordic leagues, and Beyond 90 will be there to follow their progress each week!

Round 23 of the Damallsvenskan saw some big wins and defeats in games involving Aussies.

Leaders BK Häcken have opened up a four-point buffer over the chasing pack after a strong 6-0 away win against fourth-from-bottom IF Brommapojkarna. Aivi Luik played the opening 80 minutes of the one-sided contest.

Norrköping eked out a 1-0 win at home over FC Rosengård, with Aussies Vesna Milivojević and Deborah-Anne de la Harpe substituted in the 90th minute. De la Harpe also picked up a first-half yellow card.

The Norrköping coach was full of praise for his charges after the game, as the team is only two points shy of reaching the maximum 33 points since the summer break.

Kristianstads will be disappointed with their 2-0 loss away to lower-placed Piteå. Amy Sayer played a full game, while Remy Siemsen was substituted in the 71st minute. The club this week heralded the selection of five of their squad – including Sayer and Siemsen – for international duties.

Vittsjö GIK fell 2-0 at home at the hands (feet?) of top-three side Hammarby, with Daniela Galic substituted in added time.

Courtney Nevin scored Malmö FF‘s first goal in their impressive 4-1 away win over a team just one place below them in Djurgårdens IF. The win keeps them level with Hammarby in equal second place.

Polly Doran‘s Linköping hosted Jada Whyman‘s AIK, losing 4-1 to the visitors. Doran played a full match, but Whyman is under an injury cloud with a knee injury suffered in the AIK game against Hammarby. The ailment means she will be unable to take her place in the Matildas squad for the upcoming games against Wales and England.

With the news that Nordsjælland captain Winonah Heatley has moved on, there are no longer any players in the Kvindeliga with an Aussie connection.

There are no Aussies currently listed as playing in the Icelandic competition. If that changes, we’ll be following their progress.
