Aussies are currently playing in two Nordic leagues, and Beyond 90 will be there to follow their progress each week!

Round 24 of the Damallsvenskan was the third-to-last of the season, but not a kind one to several teams featuring Aussies.
BK Häcken was one of the few winners, dispatching Linköping 4-0 at home. Aivi Luik played a full game for the victors, as did Polly Doran for the visitors. The result keeps Häcken in top spot, and Linköping second-last in a battle for relegation.

Fifth-placed Norrköping also suffered a 4-0 defeat, in front of second-placed Hammarby’s large home crowd. Vesna Milivojević played 82 minutes for the visitors, but Deborah-Anne de la Harpe was unavailable, with the game ending a winning sequence for the team. Here’s a shot of them both from the Norrköping website’s match preview:

There was a third successive defeat for Kristianstads, who retain 6th spot despite the 4-2 home result at the hands (and feet) of fourth-placed Djurgårdens IF. Kristianstad abandoned all plans for resting their returning internationals after a disastrous first half in which they conceded four goals. Amy Sayer and Remy Siemsen were among four halftime substitutions to enter the game, and while the team managed to claw back two goals, the damage had been done.
Visitors Vittsjö GIK recovered from a goal down to take the points in a 2-1 victory over the home side AIK. Daniela Galic was substituted in the 90th minute for the winning team. AIK keeper Jada Whyman is still recovering from a knee injury and was unavailable.
The upset of the round occurred when top-three side Malmö FF lost 2-1 at home against 9th-placed Piteå, handing the victors their third consecutive win. Malmö scored first inside five minutes, but Piteå responded in the best possible way, taking the lead in the 30th minute after their second goal, then hanging on for the win. Courtney Nevin played a full game for Malmö.

Kolbotn had already played their Round 25 match in the Toppserien – a win over Stabaek, as reported a few weeks back – and had the weekend off while all the other Round 25 games were contested.
The team’s Football Ferns (Jacqui Hand, Olivia Chance, and Liz Anton) have just two more rounds for an unlikely escape from relegation.

With the news that Nordsjælland captain Winonah Heatley has moved on, there are no longer any players in the Kvindeliga with an Aussie connection.

We’ll keep an eye on squad changes, and if the situation changes, we’ll resume our coverage of the top-flight Danish league.

There are no Aussies currently listed as playing in the Icelandic competition. If that changes, we’ll be following their progress.
