Four Nordic countries (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland) are hosting Aussie players this year, and with the summer break across the leagues nearly upon us, read on to see how they fared during the past week!

Round 9 catchup games were the order of the day for the Toppserien last weekend.

LSK Kvinner looked out of sorts in their 3-1 away loss to a fired-up Stabæk FC, and not even Fiona Worts‘ recent sparkling form could help them on this occasion.

The result leaves LSK in sixth place. Here’s hoping Karly Roestbakken has recovered from her recent surgery by early August, when they take on Ally Green‘s Vålerenga in their first game after the summer break.

Green played the last 11 minutes of Vålerenga’s 2-0 away loss to Rosenborg. The hosts dominated the first half, scoring twice, and while Vålerenga had the better of the second half they were unable to register on the scoreboard. The loss keeps Rosenborg in second place and Vålerenga in third.

Green is now in camp with the Football Ferns for their international friendlies against Norway and Wales.

Round 15 of the Damallsvenskan saw FC Rosengård win 6-0 away against Remy Siemsen‘s AIK. Teagan Micah played a full game for Rosengård but Charli Grant once again was not named – perhaps she was already on her way to the Matildas camp for their upcoming games. Siemsen played a full game for AIK.

Having defeated highly rated BK Häcken last week, sixth-placed Vittsjö GIK would have been disappointed with their 2-1 away loss to tenth-placed Örebro. Both Katrina Gorry and Clare Polkinghorne played a full game and are now at the Matildas camp.

Gorry announced during the week that, like Polkinghorne before her, she has agreed to a second season at the club.

Kyra Cooney-Cross was called up to the Matildas camp this week as a late inclusion. After watching from the bench for the last couple of games, she finally made her Hammarby debut in a 2-1 loss against BK Häcken. Cooney-Cross took the field for the final 23 minutes, while Courtney Nevin played a full game.

Úrvalsdeild karla (

In Round 10 of the Úrvalsdeild, Gema Simon‘s Thróttur Reykjavík was defeated 2-1 at home by competition leader Valur. The matchwinner for Valur was none other than American Cyera Hintzen, who starred for Perth Glory during the last A-League Women’s season.

Simon played the full 90 minutes. This result leaves Thróttur in fifth place.

Here are some round highlights from Youtube:

Susan Phonsongkham scored KR Reykjavik‘s only goal as they lost 3-1 away to seventh-placed Keflavik. Phonsongkham played 90 minutes and was nominated for the league’s team of the week, while Margaux Chauvet played 70 minutes.

Second-placed Breiðablik had a strong 4-0 away win against eighth-placed Thor/KA, but Melina Ayres only took the field for the last five minutes.
