Four Nordic countries (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland) are hosting Aussie players this year, read on to see how they fared in the past week!

The weekend saw Danish Elitedivisionen Round 2 action in both the Champions and Promotion/Relegation round-robins which form part of the 2021 season.

All three Aussies (Clare Wheeler, Angie Beard, and Indiah-Paige Riley) played the full 90 minutes in Fortuna Hjørring‘s 4-0 away win over Thy-Thisted in the Champions playoffs. Riley made the most of a rare start, scoring their third goal just before half-time. The win keeps Fortuna in second place.

Jenna McCormick‘s AGF Aarhus is competing in the promotion/relegation playoffs to secure a place in the Elitedivisionen. McCormick didn’t make the teamsheet due to ankle soreness from last weekend. In her absence, AGF drew nil-all at home against second-tier B.93. The result sees both teams into equal second position.

In Round 3 of the Toppserien, Karly Roestbakken showed no sign of foot soreness in the last five minutes of LSK Kvinner‘s home game against 2021 champions Brann Kvinner (previously known as Sandviken). LSK competed well and kept the game scoreless until late on when, eight minutes after taking the field in her LSK debut, Fiona Worts brought an attacker down in her own penalty box, gifting Brann a 1-0 victory.

Hammarby are currently without the services of Matildas Kyra Cooney-Cross and Courtney Nevin, and in their absence went down 4-1 away to BK Häcken.

Remy Siemsen‘s new club AIK lost 3-1 away to newly-promoted Kalmar this week. Like Cooney-Cross and Nevin, Siemsen will be joining her club following the conclusion of the Matildas/Football Ferns two game series.

Finally, Annie Haffenden came on at halftime in her league debut for second tier Växjö DFF. Her team defeated Jitex 2-1 away from home in the first round of the Elitettan league. The below video features Haffenden’s team:
