Canberra United had their chances but were outmatched 4-0 by a clinical Melbourne City at Queanbeyan’s Seiffert Oval in their Round 6 A-League Women’s match (click for extended highlights). The result sees City march to the top of the ladder, while Canberra slips to seventh place.

The visitors’ goals came thanks to delightful through balls from Naomi Chinnama and Daniela Galic for captain Rhianna Pollicina, who netted a double, and Maria ‘Cote’ Rojas respectively. Galic capped a wonderful appearance off the bench with her maiden A-League Women’s goal, a top bins masterpiece.

United will be sweating on the fitness of Canadian centre-back Kennedy Faulknor (knee), whose exit from the game at halftime brought Ellie Brush into the game to warm applause. The game marked Brush’s first appearance in a green jersey since 2017.

Sasha Grove also played another fine game for Canberra United at right back in what is proving to be a breakout season for her.
