The fourth staging of the Charity Shield saw Canberra Olympic come from behind to defeat Belconnen United 2-1. Keira Bobbin opened the scoring in the 14th minute before Madison Cachia and Ella Brown replied in the 21st and 78th minutes respectively.

As the first competitive outing of the season, it’s always interesting to catch a glimpse of squad changes. The Olympic lineup included Jaya Bowman (ex-Canberra United Academy), Bessie Riethmuller (Belconnen United), Ella Brown (Gungahlin United), and Sienna Birnie and Nikita Perry (Canberra Croatia). This was also Frank Cachia’s first formal occasion on an NPLW sideline as the Canberra Olympic coach after a celebrated men’s NPL coaching career.
Goalkeeper Monique Pinkiewicz (Tasmania), Alyse Jensen (West Canberra Wanderers), Ailish McDonagh (ANU), and Alyssa Di Campli (Canberra United Academy) were included in the Blue Devils lineup.
