Matildas manager Ante Milicic today announced a 21-player squad to represent Australia for the upcoming two-match friendly series against Chile in November.
The group will feature 18 players returning to the fold after the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France, with Adelaide United goalkeeper Sarah Willacy and Melbourne Victory defender Jenna McCormick both in line to make their international debuts, while Melbourne City defender Emma Checker will be looking to make her return to the side after a two-year absence from international football.
Milicic said that he expects players to be completely focused on the task at hand, knowing there will be places up for grabs in the final round of Olympic qualifying early next year.
“These two games against Chile will be our only fixtures prior to February’s first phase of qualifying for Tokyo 2020, so we will be treating them with the utmost concentration and professionalism as we aim to make great use of our time together,” he said.
