Long-time Matildas goalkeeping coach Paul Jones has resigned from the Matildas coaching staff.

The FFA announced today that they had accepted Jones’ resignation after over 15 years with the women’s national team program.

“FFA would like to thank Paul Jones for his valuable contribution to Women’s Football in Australia and wishes him well for his future endeavours,” said the FFA statement.

Jones was a key fixture in the national team and oversaw the development of many goalkeepers through the program including the current Matildas no.1, Lydia Williams.

During his two tenures with the Matildas Jones attended three FIFA Women’s World Cups, five AFC Women’s Asian Cups and the Rio 2016 Olympic Games tournament.

FFA will announce a new Westfield Matildas goalkeeper coach in the near future.
