- the Relegation group commences the day after, with 6 teams (including AGF) all starting on zero points. The two top teams at the end of these playoffs will earn Elitedivisionen places for 2022.
Capital Football (Canberra)
- Capital Football closes a $22 referee pay gap in Canberra’s NPL and NPLW. Referees in Canberra’s NPLW will be paid the same amount in 2022 as they will be to officiate an NPLM match. This was touted for the 2021 season but never occurred due to a Covid-induced delay in referee training courses, leading to a shortage of level one and two referees.
- Canberra Croatia FC on Twitter: “✍️🇭🇷Experienced defender Alice Churchill returns for an incredible 12th season with the Club in the top flight, having made her NPLW Senior debut as a 16-year old. Queens / Kings of the Week
Eric – Ashlie Crofts! WSW were trailing 1-0 to the Jets, then the Queen of Blacktown scored to rescue a point for the Wanderers on her debut for the club
Maj – Cortnee Vine, for her acting job in the buildup to Sydney’s first goal against Wellington, she pretended to frustrated with the lack of passing options before neatly slotting the ball into the net
Steffen – Wolfsburg, Hoffenheim and the Frauen Bundesliga in general. The 4-0 win by Wolfsburg over Chelsea in the Champions League was an eye-opener and a pointer to the very high quality of the Frauen Bundesliga, as was Hoffenheim’s 4-1 win over Arsenal. We don’t talk much about German football here as there aren’t many Aussies in the league. Dale – Juventus coach Joe Montemurro, they are eight points clear at the top of Série A, he’s the only manager in the club’s history to qualify for the UWCL quarter finals, and they did it with a week to spare. Joker of the week – COVID-19.
Cheryl – 1) Emma Hayes for acknowledging the impact of professional football on her players, especially the fixture congestion caused by the UWCL and 2) Wellington Phoenix for their hard work in building an A-League Women’s squad at very short notice
