Leah Blayney (Head Coach – Australia Young Matildas (U20) and Future Matildas) joins as our special guest.
She debuted for the Matildas in New Zealand at the age of 16 and would play 20 games for the senior national team (16 of them being ‘A’ international matches).
We ask Leah to share her thoughts on Legacy ‘23 and how it will help the Young Matildas qualify for major tournaments, while Dale delves into Leah’s link with the Macarthur Rams Football Club.
Leah also shares how legendary football coach Tony DiCicco helped shape her both as a coach and as a person.
We discuss qualifying matches for the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup 2022 and AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup 2022, which will be held in Shepparton (Victoria) and Cessnock (NSW) respectively.
- U20 R1 Quals 14-22 August – Shepparton, Vic
- U17 R1 Quals 18-26 September – Cessnock, NSW
Eric discusses the Jets Academy players that have been selected for U17 & U20 elite games, and Cheryl wants some answers as to why we’re not seeing more Matildas from Victoria.
If you haven’t already, read this great article on Leah, written by Lucy Zelic.
