Football Tasmania have released the semi finals draw for the Women’s Statewide Cup. WSL leaders Clarence Zebras have drawn Kingborough Lions at Wentworth Park, while Olympia Warriors will host South Hobart at Warrior Park.

Zebras have been impressive with wins over title rivals Olympia in the league and Northern Rangers in the Cup quarter finals. Zoe Nichols is leading the WSL Golden Boot race with ten goals, one ahead of Olympia’s Bonnie Davies.

Having such a youthful team in the top tier of Tasmanian football has really hurt the Lions and they are currently fifth on the WSL table. However, they have had an impressive cup run with another big win on the weekend, this time dishing out an 8-0 thrashing over the travelling Riverside Olympic. Lions may be struggling in the league but could prove to be a cup team if they were to knock off Clarence Zebras.

Olympia Warriors may be sitting in second on the WSL table, but they have still turned heads every week. Warriors are becoming true to their name and won’t go down in the title race without a fight. Olympia comfortably knocked off Beachside 7-0 last weekend in the quarter finals but will face a sterner challenge against South Hobart. If their strike force of Bonnie Davies and Mia Cane is switched on then it could prove to be a long day for South.

South Hobart have turned their bottom place finish from last year around and have picked up some good wins in the league. Coach Craig Westwood has done very well with the youth at his disposal so this game could still go either way.
