South Hobart 1 (Sophie Westwood)

After seven rounds Taroona have finally notched their first league win after an impressive 3-1 performance over last week’s defensive standouts South Hobart at Kelvedon Park.

Sophie Westwood quickly wrote off last week’s offside goal, scoring her first from a scramble in the box, much to the delight of the away side.

Eli Cropp equalised shortly afterwards, taking on defender Bridie Cooling and finding herself one on one with keeper Georgia McMullen, then calmly finishing into the bottom left corner.

Cropp wasn’t done and a corner saw Cropp pass to Mei Booker, who somehow picked out the top left from the most acute angle for what was a remarkable goal.

South never came back from this and Sacha Rose scored late in the second half to gift all three points to the home side.

A huge win for Taroona, while South can only scratch their heads at how they let the lead slip.

Devonport Strikers have made sharp work of Kingborough Lions in a 4-2 home romp at Valley Rd.

Kingborough’s Danielle Kannegiesser scored her third of the campaign in the first half but that was soon cancelled out by Devonport’s Jazmine White.

Melanie Quirk scored to put the Strikers 2-1 up and then there was a surprise, as veteran keeper Georgia Anderson somehow launched a keeper assist from her own box to White, who finished past keeper Olivia Gardner for a 3-1 lead.

A late strike from Holly Bonertz-Benn gave the visitors hope but a Danielle Mitchell goal ensured this was Devonport’s day.

Olympia have quickly erased last week’s shock draw, notching a huge win over title contenders Launceston United 3-1 at Warrior Park.

Inocent Michael reminded the state why she is the best playmaker in the league by scoring from halfway, a contender for Goal Of The Year.

Mia Cane returned to her scoring ways in the second half, with injury returnee Meggie Goscombe also getting on the scoresheet.

Jessica Robinson attempted to spark a late comeback with a goal but it was too late for the visitors as the Champions reigned over United.
