The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has announced the creation of the AFC Women’s Club Championship.

The AFC women’s committee has approved the pilot edition of the tournament which will involve the champion clubs from Australia, PR China, Japan and Korea Republic.

The tournament will run from November 26 – 30, 2019 using a round-robin format.

This announcement follows the 2018 recommendation of the establishment of an AFC women’s club competition. The federation believes this to be a crucial next step in the development of women’s football at club level in Asia.

Further details about the clubs set to be involved and the logistics of the tournament itself have not been released as yet.
