Calder United have completed their Tasmanian trip in style. They leave The Apple Isle with two wins vs Football Tasmania select sides at UTAS Stadium in Launceston: 5-1 in the U19s game and 3-0 in the Seniors match.

CUFC U19s 5 (Anastasia Ramel, Alannah Cerne, Montana Matthews x 2, Sienna Cappola) Tasmania U19s 1 (Chelsea Wing)

Anastasia Ramel broke the goal drought on the half-hour, heading home past keeper Georgie Anderson and bringing the travelling United fans some early delight.

Tasmania managed to equalise before half-time after a scramble in the box led to Chelsea Wing getting the final touch, much to the pleasure of the local community.

Alannah Cerne and Montana Matthews set the second half alight with two long range goals into the top right, before Sienna Cappola made it 4-1.

Matthews completed her brace right before the whistle and the CUFC U19s walked away with a comfortable confidence booster for their season.

CUFC NPLW 3 (Alexandra Sinclair 12′ 25′, Eva Groba 59′) Tasmania Seniors 0

Calder’s NPLW side comfortably put away Tasmania’s senior women’s team 3-0 in front of a respectable crowd at UTAS Stadium.

Captain Alexandra Sinclair completed a tidy brace before the break. The first came through a one-on-one with keeper Izzy Ottavi, despite fullback Danielle Kannegiesser’s attempted clearance. Sinclair made Calder two to the good after getting onto a volley from a set-piece delivery, giving the visitors a comfortable lead at halftime.

Eva Groba finished the game off after some lovely footwork from the flanks led to Groba finishing past substitute keeper Olivia Gardner.

Two comfortable wins for Calder on the day but Tasmania did look as well gelled as you can be after limited sessions together. Kannegiesser and Bonnie Davies worked tirelessly up the wings for Tasmania in what was a brave showing from the representative side.

However, Inocent Michael copped a nasty knock to her knee towards the end of the day and was substituted after treatment, leaving Tasmania without their key playmaker.
