With two Aussies and Matildas competing in the D1 Féminine, Beyond 90 will be keeping readers up to date with how our players, and the teams they’re playing in, are faring. The championship continues while both Ellie Carpenter and Mary Fowler are with the Matildas for the Asian Cup.

Montpellier HSC vs. Olympique Lyonnais was one of the best games of the season so far. La Paillade resisted OL, scored, and worried them before a dramatic finish that gave the win to Lyon by three goals to two. Griedge Mbock opened the scoring in the fifth minute after a corner kick. This could have been the beginning of a Lyon onslaught but Montpellier responded with authority and Lena Petermann equalised (17′). Eugénie Le Sommer put Lyon back in front (42′) but Petermann equalised once again, this time from the penalty spot (44′). Despite substitutions from both sides, neither Montpellier nor Lyon scored … until Mbock scored her second goal of the game on 89 minutes after Lisa Schmitz repelled Wendie Renard‘s header.
