With two Matildas competing in the D1 Féminine, Beyond 90 will be keeping readers up to date with how our players and the teams they’re playing in are faring.

Round 2 saw Girondins Bordeaux win 6-0 against ASJ Soyaux with 6 different goalscorers – Folkerstma, Berkely, Lardez, Gomes, Cardia and Snoeijs scored one each, and Snoeijs had a great game with three decisive passes as well. Olympique Lyonnais dominated AS Saint-Etienne and won by the same scoreline, while Paris FC won 1-0 against FC Fleury in the other derby. Paris Saint-Germain won a crucial game 1-0 against Montpellier HSC thanks to Sara Däbritz’s penalty kick and Dijon earned three important points at FF Issy. Reims and Guingamp ended up with a scoreless draw.

Ellie Carpenter was back in the starting eleven for Olympique Lyonnais and played 57 minutes while her Canadian teammate Kadeisha Buchanan played her 100th game with the club. This game looked like a Catarina Macário festival – she scored the first goal, followed by Amel Majri, Melvine Malard, Emeline Laurent, Damaris Egurrola and a great strike from Selma Bacha. With two goals in two games, Bacha is tied with Däbritz as the top scorer of the championship.

Montpellier was under pressure from the first minute against PSG and conceded after a foul on Ashley Lawrence in the box, giving Däbritz a chance she didn’t let go. La Paillade had to rely on their goalkeeper Lisa Schmitz, then the second half saw Montpellier up their level. The coach brought on Esther Mbackem-Niaro, Mary Fowler and Lena Petermann to end the game with four forwards on the pitch, but it wasn’t enough to earn a point.
