With two Aussies and Matildas competing in the D1 Féminine, Beyond 90 will be keeping readers up to date with how our players, and the teams they’re playing in, are faring.

Aussies opened the week as Olympique Lyonnais visited Girondins de Bordeaux and Montpellier HSC hosted Fleury 91.

Bordeaux opened the scoring with Inès Jaurena in the third minute, but OL answered four minutes later thanks to Catarina Macario. Then the American and Amel Majri combined superbly on 26 minutes, resulting in Majri’s 50th D1 Arkema goal. In the second half, Griedge Mbock Bathy scored from the penalty spot on 73 minutes and Spanish prodigy Damaris Egurrola found the net with a header in the 87th minute. Ellie Carpenter played the entire game. Unfortunately, OL have lost Majri for the season due to a torn ACL.

OL’s head coach Sonia Bompastor summarised the game: “We lacked aggressiveness at the beginning of both halves, we left too much space to Bordeaux. We must be more consistent in the use of the ball. We are satisfied with the result but there are things to improve.”

Montpellier HSC had a new setback with a 2-1 home loss against FC Fleury, where MHSC was dominated and unable to control the midfield. Maestro Léa Le Garrec (24’) and the unstoppable Nikola Karczewska (85’) scored for Fleury. Supersub Mary Fowler, who came in at the 58th minute, scored her first goal of the season just before the final whistle (90+4′).

Stade de Reims and Dijon FCO took three points away at FF Issy and ASJ Soyaux respectively. Reims won 3-1 thanks to their young forwards Naomie Feller (4′) and Kessya Bussy (73′, 84′), while Dijon FCO won 2-1 thanks to Desire Oparanozie‘s brace (24′, 52’). Paris FC kept third place after a 3-1 win at AS Saint-Etienne – 17 year old Louna Ribadeira (45’), Clara Matéo (68’) and Ouleymata Sarr (88’) were the scorers. PSG vs EA Guingamp was postponed due to rain, and a new date for the fixture has not been announced yet.
