Aussies in Nordic football has been a recurring theme over the years and 2023 is no different. Read on to see how Aussies in the Nordic leagues (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland) fared during the past week!

Round 11 of the Damallsvenskan was the entree to the midweek main course, the Svenska Cup Final.

Aivi Luik‘s BK Häcken remains top of the ladder after defeating Kristianstads 1-0 at home. Luik played a full game and had a tidy warm-up for the cup final.

The other Cup Finalists were Hammarby, but first Kyra Cooney-Cross and team faced Chelsie Dawber‘s IFK Norrköping at home. Hammarby took the spoils with a 2-1 win – Cooney-Cross assisted the second goal with her set-piece delivery and played the full game. Dawber came on in the 84th minute for the visitors.

Teagan Micah posted on social media to advise that her long absence from the field was due to a concussion. FC Rosengård had a strong 7-1 home win without her, dispatching fellow mid-table team Växjö DFF.

Finally, Hammarby and their fanatical supporters were too strong for both their opponents BK Häcken and the Häcken followers in the crowd, stunning the Damallsvenskan leaders 3-0 in the Svenska Cup Final. Kyra Cooney-Cross played 86 minutes of the final for Hammarby, while Aivi Luik played the full game for Häcken.

They’ve done it! AGF will be playing Elitedivisionen football in 2023-24 after defeating B 93 2-1 at home. Matilda McNamara played her standard full game for the Aarhus outfit (and earned the Player of the Match award!), while Ally Green started and played 56 minutes. The win also means AGF will finish top of the promotion/relegation playoff group – they’ll be joined by either Aalborg or B 93 in next season’s top flight.

Winonah Heatley was back in the starting lineup and FC Nordsjælland were back in the winner’s circle after a 3-1 home triumph against Thy ThistedQ. Heatley started and played 75 minutes. The result means Nordsjælland will end the season in fourth place, unless they lose their final league game against Kolding by seven goals.

There have been two rounds of Toppserien games in the last week, with Brann Kvinner slipping one ladder position after those matches.

In Round 12, second-placed Rosenborg was too strong for Brann at home, recording a 2-0 victory over their fifth-placed opponent. Larissa Crummer played at the point of attack and was on the field for every minute.

Brann followed this up with a 0-0 home draw against the team one position below them on the ladder, Stabæk. Crummer backed up to play 81 minutes in the midweek Round 13 fixture.

Tameka Yallop did not take part in either game for Brann and remains unavailable.
