Aussies in Nordic football has been a recurring theme over the years and 2023 is no different. Read on to see how Aussies in the Nordic leagues (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland) fared during the past week!

Just two rounds remain in the Damallsvenskan before a break for the World Cup. Round 15 games on the weekend saw points go the way of most teams involving Aussies.

Competition leaders BK Häcken recorded a 3-0 home victory over mid-table Växjö, with Aivi Luik playing the full 90 minutes.

In an Aussie derby, Hammarby came away 2-0 away winners against Vittsjö GIK. Kyra Cooney-Cross played the full match for Hammarby, as did Charli Grant for the home side. Katrina Gorry played 65 minutes for Vittsjö, while Clare Polkinghorne remains unavailable.

Following on from a win last round, IFK Norrköping eked out a home 0-0 draw against fourth-placed Linköping. Chelsie Dawber came on in the 65th minute and will be keen to see her team’s revival continue. A record crowd of over 8100 fans came out to cheer their team on.

Finally, it’s so great to see Teagan Micah back in action for FC Rosengård. Their 1-1 away draw against eleventh-placed KIF Örebro wasn’t one of their better recent results but it did see Micah play a second successive full game since her return to action.

The champions group playoffs finished as follows, with all teams (including Heatley’s Nordsjælland) set to participate in the forthcoming Elitedivisionen. HB Køge claimed the gold medal for the third year running, thereby qualifying for the Champions League along with silver medallists Brøndby IF.

Round 16 of the Toppserien was the penultimate round before the competition takes a break for the World Cup.

Larissa Crummer played a full match for Brann Kvinner in their 2-0 home loss against a solid-looking LSK Kvinner. The result leaves Brann hanging onto fourth place by a single point. Tameka Yallop remains unavailable (and is indeed already in Australia).
