Aussies in Nordic football has been a recurring theme over the years and 2023 is no different. Read on to see how Aussies in the Nordic leagues (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland) fared during the past week!
AGF have avoided the Kvindeliga promotion / relegation playoffs!
Their 1-0 away win over Aalborg BK gave them a six point buffer to the bottom two places with only one game left in the season’s first phase. Matilda McNamara and Ally Green were on the field for the full 90 minutes, with McNamara earning a caution in the second half.
Our other Danish-based ANZACs were all involved in scoreless draws. FC Nordsjælland couldn’t be separated from Thy ThistedQ, but a point on the road keeps them in second place. Malia Steinmetz played a full game, however Winonah Heatley is still injured.
HB Køge also earned a single point on their travels after drawing 0-0 with Fortuna Hjørring. Claudia Bunge played from the opening whistle until full time, Daisy Cleverley played the opening 72 minutes, and Deborah-Anne de la Harpe was an unused substitute. Køge are currently in third place.
During the week, Køge announced that Deborah-Anne de la Harpe will be leaving the club. We look forward to seeing de la Harpe in action soon.
Larissa Crummer played a complete game as Brann Kvinner lost 3-1 away to Lyon in Matchday 3 of the Champions League. Despite the defeat, Brann are still looking good – second place in Group B and with a five point margin to the bottom two of the group.
BK Häcken stayed top of Champions League Group D after travelling to Stamford Bridge and hokding Chelsea to a 0-0 draw. Aivi Luik played for the full 90 minutes.
There was more good news for Luik as it was announced that she will be staying at Häcken for the 2024 Damallsvenskan campaign.
