Aussies in Nordic football has been a recurring theme over the years and 2023 is no different. Read on to see how Aussies in the Nordic leagues (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland) fared during the past week!

It’s going to be a busy time for the Aussies involved in the Svenska Cup Final, which takes place on June 6th, between Round 11 and 12 of the Damallsvenskan.

Before that big occasion, let’s take a look at how our Aussies went in Round 10.

Aivi Luik and her BK Häcken team will be participating in their third consecutive Cup Final and are also the new league leaders after defeating Piteå IF 3-0 away from home. Luik played the full game.

Hammarby are the other Cup Finalists and Kyra Cooney-Cross is set to appear in the Cup decider for the first time. In Round 10, Cooney-Cross played the entire match as Hammarby drew 1-1 away to Kristianstads, a result that keeps them in the top three. The home team equalised with just two minutes of normal time remaining.

FC Rosengård are still sans Teagan Micah and they maintained their mid-table position, overcoming Örebro 2-1 at home. Micah had an opportunity to catch up with Charli Grant and Katrina Gorry (and Harper) during the past week.

Gorry and Grant’s Vittsjö GIK posted a fine 3-0 away win over Djurgården. The two Aussies played full games but there’s still no sign of Clare Polkinghorne being available. Vittsjö now sits just above Rosengård in sixth place.

Chelsie Dawber‘s IFK Norrköping didn’t have their finest day, losing 1-0 at home against second-to-last IF Brommapojkarna. Dawber enjoyed a rare start and played 70 minutes. Her team currently resides in ninth.

AGF are on the cusp of sealing their 2023-24 Elitedivisionen spot. Matilda McNamara and Ally Green both played full games as AGF convincingly defeated NIF / HG 4-1 at home.

It was great to see the AGF players signing autographs for their fans – one of our writers knows all about the thrill of receiving an autograph from Matilda McNamara 😉

Brann Kvinner posted a fine 5-2 home win against the team one place below them on the ladder, RØA Dynamite Girls. This Round 11 Toppserien result was Larissa Crummer‘s finest outing for her Bergen-based club, scoring twice and assisting another goal. Tameka Yallop remains unavailable.
