Countdown

Australia’s longest-running women’s football podcast (est. April 2019).

History: Leanne Trimboli, Matildas Cap 109

Matildas Debut: 2000 (played for the national team until 2001)
Appearances:  4 (3 A internationals)
Position: Goalkeeper

The first of the 2000 debutants, Leanne dreamt initially of participating in the Olympics as a basketballer, but her height didn’t enable that to become a reality.

Following a knee reconstruction, taekwondo became a contender for Leanne’s attention, however, with fortuitous timing she was called up to the Matildas.

Leanne is a member of the South Australian Police.

Eric – Bankstown City forward Daisy Arrowsmith told me before Sunday’s game against her old club (Northern Tigers) that she would score, and she scored!
