On Friday night at Crown Towers in Perth, Perth Glory players, staff and members gathered to celebrate season 2020-21 and discover who would be named the clubs Most Glorious Player (MGP).

W-League

Coach Alex Epakis selected New Zealand international Elizabeth (Liz) Anton as the W-League MGP and had this to say about her;

“Liz really grew into the season and excelled with her consistency both on and off the field. Her displays often showed courage and tenacity, despite being under heavy pressure throughout certain matches.

“She is excellent in her anticipation and ball-winning skills. Her demeanour and professionalism really shined through advertise and overall she was an asset this season.

“I really am grateful for her efforts this year.”

Fellow New Zealander, Lily Alfeld, picked up the Players Player of the Year award following a stellar season between the sticks, and skipper Tash Rigby was fulsome in her praise of the Alfeld.

“Lily Alfeld (was) absolutely phenomenal. She saved us on so many occasions”.

W League Golden Boot Winners Hana Lowry and Caitlin Doeglas

The Golden boot award was shared by Caitlin Doeglas and young gun Hana Lowry, who both scored two goals in what was a tough campaign for the team in purple.

A-League

A special award was also presented to Marianna Tabain for her achievement in playing 100 W League games for the club.

For the men, the winners were Bruno Fornaroli (MGP, players’ player and Golden boot), whilst Diego Castro was awarded the Media A-League player of the Year Award and Members’ Player of the Year Award. Andy Keogh won the goal of the year award and Luke Bodnar was named the DT38 U23 player of the year.

Perth Glory CEO Tony Pignata had this to say about the evening;

“It’s been fantastic to see the Glory family back together for this traditional and much-loved event, and on behalf of everyone associated with the club, I’d like to salute all those who have taken out awards tonight.

“I’d also like to sincerely thank our Members and fans, sponsors and corporates and our players, coaches, support and office staff and volunteers for their fantastic support and hard work this year.

“Next season marks the 25th anniversary of this wonderful and unique football club and we are all now looking forward to marking that milestone in style on and off the field.”
