  • ACT
    • Grand Final: Canberra Olympic (Ash Sykes 2, Nicole Jalocha, Olivia Gurney) 4-1 Belconnen United (Tatum Mazis)
      • after the drama of the semi-finals, this was a fairly comfortable win for Olympic
      • young Blue Devils centre-back Sophia Doumos was awarded the Julie Murray medal for best on ground, but Sykes and Gurney can’t have been far behind in the reckoning
      • 2 early Olympic goals inside 22 minutes took the wind out of Belconnen’s sails, who had been adept recently at scoring early goals themselves
      • the first time these two teams have met in a GF during the NPLW era
      • a big day for Olympic: not only winning the 1st Grade Championship for the first time, Reserve Grade had earlier shown the way by also defeating the Blue Devils in their Grand Final

Queens of the Week

Dale – Vivianne Miedema scored the winning goal in Arsenal’s UWCL second round qualifier against Ajax

Eric – 1) Glasgow City’s Clare Shine announced her retirement from professional football 2) Hills United captain Desiree Galea retired after the Football NSW League One Women’s Grand Final

Maj – The Opals won a bronze medal in the Basketball World Cup, while also clearly enjoying each other’s company

Steffen – Ashleigh Sykes has in my opinion been the best player of the 2022 Capital Football NPLW season, such a shame she has already decided to not put the boots on for the forthcoming A-League Women’s season
