South Hobart have bounced back from last week’s defeat and cruised home to an impressive 3-1 win over Kingborough Lions at D’Arcy St.

Lucy Roberts was gifted an early penalty in the opening minutes after a defensive infringement in the box, however Roberts was denied by Lions keeper Erika Mackintosh who returned to the starting XI after her run in the Summer Cup preliminary stages.

Pishon Choi was delivered a picture perfect set-piece which ricocheted off the cross bar, rebounded off Mackintosh and helped Choi picked up the pieces inside the box for the opening scalp.

Choi was involved in the lead up for the second goal and was able to weave around the defence to send in Niki Moutsatsos, who tapped into the bottom right. Choi’s pass came with a price after getting crunched by Mackintosh in the process, but thankfully she was okay to continue.

Lions had their chances in the first half but were stopped in their tracks by South keeper Georgia McMullen, who made some great saves including three in quick succession early in the second half, earning a huge round of applause.

Moutsatsos put the game to bed in outstanding fashion, darting past the Lions defence and spotting Mackintosh off her line, lobbing over the keeper’s head for an emphatic goal.

Danielle Kannegiesser and Bronte Gadon combined beautifully with 15 minutes left to bring proceedings back to 1-3, but it proved to only be good enough for consolation with South running out winners.
